My God! that is dreadful. It does seem after sometime that most of the lesions heal on their own.. the way they wrote it the article suggests they went away because you stopped scratching! they still come and go whether one scrathes or not. I do not scratch or pick having suffered all variety of skin rashes due to allergies, and I still get lesions but they do heal easier than Peter's which can take weeks. Like you though he 'needs' to remove the fibre. For me it is in my blood so whether I get that one fibre out or not it is all the same.
I wonder what they think makes those white marks? I have them and I didn't scratch! yes the doctors just cry wolf cause it is beyond them and they couldn't possibly say "i don't know" .. fortunately our doctor can. he is supportive but admits it is well beyond his knowledge.
I am still in shock of the concept of you being locked up but then I think back and remember how the same would have happened to Peter if I had not been with him at the doctor's appointment. I was already his carer so was allowed to leave with me but was sent for psychiatric assessment. Naturally he was assessed as normal .. whatever normal is
